Stevie Nicks Confirms Fleetwood Mac 2013 Reunion

Stevie Nicks has confirmed that Fleetwood Mac is planning to reunite next year.

In an interview with “CBS This Morning,” the singer for the band didn’t offer many details, but said that the reunion is in the works.

“It’s the plan,” she said. “Because that’s what we do. I do my thing, and (singer/guitarist) Lindsey [Buckingham’s] out doing his thing.” When asked if everyone was on board, she said, “Oh yeah.”

Buckingham had previously told Rolling Stone that he was expecting a reunion as well.

“Nothing is on the books right now,” he said in the 2011 interview. “With Fleetwood Mac, there’s a lot of landmines out there politically and it’s hard to get everybody on the same page at the same time – but I think everyone will want to do the same thing.”

Nicks also spoke of the recent suicide of former Fleetwood Mac guitarists Bob Welch during the CBS interview.

“I couldn’t even imagine that anything could be so bad as to cause that,” she said. “And I just feel very, very bad that somebody could’ve been that miserable to do something that crazy. So I can’t even tell you what in the world would have pushed him to do something that crazy.”

In the ever-evolving lineup that was Fleetwood Mac in the late 1960s and early 1970s, Welch left the band just before Nicks joined circa 1975. It would be assumed that the reunion will involve the 1975 – 1987 lineup of the band, which was the most well-known incarnation and released the popular Rumours album. However, keyboards Christine McVie will likely not be involved, as she retired from the band shortly after the original 1997 reunion.

Since the time of the 1997 reunion, the band has released two albums – the live album The Dance and the original studio record, Say You Will. McVie was featured on two tracks on the latter album.
